Interior Design Trends That You Will See In 2019

As we wrap up the holidays and start to put away those beautiful Christmas trees, garland, and décor, we begin to ring in the new year. With the start of a fresh new year, 2019 brings us new design trends to watch for.

We all know the feeling, once you put away that last box of Christmas your house feels a bit unfinished like something is missing. Perhaps you can spice up your home by using one of the top 5 design trends we will see in 2019. Use some of these trends below to reboot on your decorating!

Starting us off at number one is floral. Traditional floral patterns whether it is abstracted or just flowers, it is going to be one of the top trends to use in 2019. Floral design patterns will not be over used and seen on everything, but adding a spice of floral to wallpaper or in fabrics is a new trend for the year.

Up next is rich jewel tones. Interior designers in the Chicagoland area know this trend is more recent and quickly becoming more popular. Adding rich jewel tones to a room with colors like emerald green and dark teal really make a room stand out. For instance, in an all-black and white living room, adding those pop of colors in accessories really goes a long way.

Number three, a trend that we will see this year is boldly patterned backsplashes. An essential item that really shows off your kitchen is its counter tops and backsplash. By having bolder color choices and more intricate patterns, it will showcase your home better for the new year and really make it pop!

Out with the old and in with the new. 2019 is kissing cherry wood behind and bringing in lighter toned woods. Light toned wood flooring is making a comeback along with lighter cabinets in most homes today. Using a lighter tone instead of the cherry finish will allow more light to be reflected into your home.

The fifth design trend to spot in the new year is warmer and darker countertops. This trend will typically be seen in kitchen areas, but not uncommon to find in bathrooms as well. Instead of using whites and greys, try a change for the year with a warm-based tone.
